The training package
I wish I had.

Old dogs can learn new tricks

Rescue Me! is tailored to give you the skills to set you and your new family member up post-adoption.

In these sessions, we will focus on body language, introductions to dogs and people, day-to-day care, mental and physical enrichment, and, most importantly, how to help your dog feel safe and secure with you so you can work on a lifetime bond together with your new best mate.

This package is available to people who have adopted their dog in the last 8 weeks or are just about to adopt and are getting prepared.

You get a 90-minute initial consult that focuses on history and management strategies and homework that you can get started with immediately. Then 2 follow-up 60-minute training sessions. There will be digital support throughout your journey, where we work on tailoring the training together.

This package is available online (in person may be appropriate after the initial consult - travel costs may apply)

Frequently asked questions

  • Not at all! I am here for you, however you acquired your dog. This special is tailored for rescue dogs as it is something that is close to my heart, and how I got into the world of dog training.

  • Dog training is often about teaching you the skills to read and train your dog. Online dog training is a great way to reach your goals as we can really work together to work on your training skills.

Online training can also be beneficial for dogs who are fearful of people, or people who are at high risk of infectious diseases.

  • A device that can film, live video and have sound and a microphone, such as a smartphone, laptop, or iPad. A reliable internet connection. Ability to use your emails and send and receive video via your chosen method (i.e. Whatsapp, email). Also, some treats and some space for you and your dog to work!

  • Dog training is one of those things that the more you put in, the more you get out. Sometimes, you will find success with just one session! Other times it is a longer journey where we will work out what is working for you and your dog, or work through multiple challenges.

As dog trainers often say: it depends!

  • Professional trainers who are worth their weight will never guarantee results, as it is unethical to guarantee the behaviour of another living being: beware of those doing so.

Often those who do guarantee results use methods of fear, intimidation and pain, such as shock collars or corrections. These methods may suppress the behaviour but often can have fallout and harm your relationship.

At Dig Dog Training, we want to strengthen your relationship with science-backed positive reinforcement strategies. This can take time and effort on your part, but we are here to support you on this journey and have fun along the way.
